Tardy B2S: Epson (review)

Ok, I'm REALLY tardy on this one. I wanted to make sure I tried it out completely before I posted a review so I could write my honest opinion of it.

I got the Epson Stylus NX515 last month to review, and I was so thrilled to get it because we have been needing a decent printer, and the fact that it's a copier and scanner too was an added bonus! The set-up was a peice of cake, I use a laptop so the fact that the Epson Stylus NX515 had Wi-Fi built in was awesome to me, I had never heard of a printer having that feature. I just installed the software that come with it, then within my laptop I searched for wireless networks and "Epson Printer" popped up. I was able to immediately print out a test page which come out in like...record time lol. We couldn't find our other printer cord to hook up to Jeff's desktop, but we had a ethernet cable and Jeff hooked the printer up to the router we use for internet and Jeff was able to connect to the printer that way. It's awesome, I can be in the bedroom and need something printed out and just click "Print"...I've scared Jeff a few times doing that, since it's on his desk beside his monitor, suddenly the printer starts printing something.

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I'm finishing up my online class in photography and I needed 4 pictures printed out, but I never remembered to take the memory card to Walmart to print. With the Epson Stylus NX515 to review I was sent a separate package with different samples of paper, different sizes of photo paper, printer paper, high quality, all Epson brands. I was able to print out my pictures on 4x5 high quality photo paper and they looked as if they had come from a photo lab!

The scanner is awesome! Check out this photo I scanned of my baby picture (this had to be in 1985/1986 sometime) There isn't any graininess to it or anything! Oh, did I mention it scanned and saved to my LAPTOP! Yes! All other scanners I've seen only saves to the computer it's actually hooked up to, but with the 2.5" LCD screen with the menu I had the choice of where I wanted it scanned to! Actually if you saw my Grandparent's Day post, those 2 pictures were scanned with this scanner too! The scanner is also a copier and I've only used that once, but when I did, it was awesomeness! I had to send in a copy of Jaylin's birth certificate, last year for Jeffery's I had my dad copy it (he also has an Epson printer/copier/scanner, but different model) One thing I haven't played around with, but I should have with this baby picture of mine, it has a built in photo restoration, no need to use the computer! Oh, you don't even need a computer to print out pictures, it has built in memory card slots, just print from the card and go! Awesome right?

The one thing Jeff said he didn't like about the printer, it uses up ink quickly. It could have been the pictures I printed for my photography class that used a lot up, but the black ink is already low. We don't print a whole lot out anyways, but when we do, it seems to drain the ink. Ink isn't too expensive though, black ink is only $16.99 on Epson's site, color ink for all 3 is $37.04 on Epson's site.

I love this printer, it works great for us, and especially since we take a lot lot lot of digital pictures, it's nice to have a printer that can print out those pictures nicely so we can have hard copies, or be able to give them to someone. The price isn't horrible either, the regular price is $149.99 but right now you can go to Epson and buy it for $99.99 after $50 instant rebate! It also includes your first set of ink cartridges!

I absolutely love the scan! It's so adorable and it's so clear looking. $99 is a great price and definitely affordable in todays economy. This could be a fantastic Christmas present.

This sounds like a wonderful printer! I have the Epson Artison 800 and absolutely love it! The quality is just amazing to me.

Sometimes the ink that comes with the printers when they are new, don't have as much ink as when you refill it. I think they give you just enough to get you started. I have a feeling when you buy more, it will last longer.

Enjoy the beauty!

I am in desperate need for an all in one printer, this sounds like it would do for me very nicely.

I will have to definitely check it out!
Great Review and thanks for sharing with us! :)

What a snazzy printer! I'm overdue for a printer upgrade, big time. It's about 7 years old and chugs, makes scary noises, and prints when it isn't supposed to....Yeah. Can I borrow your new toy? :)
