Its hot! Definatly tell its summer! What are you doing to protect your kids from the sun? Sunscreen? If so great! But, for me sunscreen is a PAIN to put in a young toddler/baby. Yes I make sure I put it on, but with a squirmy child you may not get great coverage, and your child (i know mine have) get little spots of sunburn. Well, I have had the GREAT opportunity to try Sun Protection Zone products!
Here is Jeffery and Jaylin in their Sun Protection Zone long sleeve suits and hats!!! super cute!
My kids were sent the whole package, each got a long sleeve suit, and a hat, Jeffery got a rash guard shirt (same material as the suits) along with these neat little armbands called Solar Safe (i will explain everything in a mintue) along with a can of Sea and Ski sunscreen.
Sun Protection Zone products protect agains SPF AND UPF....whats the difference you might ask? The answer is:
-SPF - SPF is the ratio of time required to produce minimal erythema (redness) when a sunscreen products has been applied compared to the time required to produce the same amount of erythema without the sunscreen. This means, if skin reddening takes 20 minutes with a person who is using no protection, theoretically, the use of a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 would prevent reddening 15 times longer (about 5 hours).
-UPF - Australian researchers introduced the term Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) in 1996. It defines the amount of Ultraviolet light (UVL) that penetrates a fabric. UPF is a ranking of fabrics according to how much UVL penetration occurs based on standardized criteria. For example, a UPF rating of 30 would indicate that 1/30 of the UVL hitting the fabric acturally penetrates it. Therefore, fabric with tighter weaves and thicker fibers will have a higher UPF.
My kids love wearing their suits! Jaylins has snaps for ease of changing diapers!!! How cool!! (1T & 2T only) I wasnt able to see how Jaylins does in the water since she apparently HATES the sprinkler, but its the same thing as Jefferys suit....and he LOVED the sprinkler! He was playing in it, I didnt have to worry about sunscreen on his arms or body since he was fully covered! The suit was great, when he walked in the door I didnt have to worry about dripping clothes, the suit made the water run off him like water off a ducks back! We even went for a walk later and he wanted to wear his suit, so I let him and I put Jaylins on hers and it looked soooooo comfy!!! I also put their hats on. They looked adorable!

This is Jeffery wearing his Rash Guard shirt (same material as the suits) He likes to wear it as a regular shirt around town. One day he was wearing it along with his hat and we went to the store, EVERYONE thought he was the cutest thing!!!

Ok, now I must tell you about the Solar Safe, these things are the coolest! They are arm bands. you apply sunscreen to the bands when you apply it to yourself/kids when the band turns purple when exposed to sunlight, it turns brown when its time to reapply sunscreen and it turns a lighter brown/tan when its time to get out of the sun!!! How neat is that??!?!??
The last think we recieved was sunscreen, its called Sea & Ski. Its a FOAM!!! Neat!! (im easily amused apparenlty accoring to Jeff lol) it is spf 30 which is great for adults (i recomend spf 50+ for babies/children) This way, the adults can be protected also!!!

I would absolutely love to win this giveaway. My daughter is a total fish, and loves the pool, BUT she has a fair complexion and burns easily. Even with sunscreen she turns pink. I am the oldest of 8 children and I feel bad for my baby sister Mia (5) because we have a pool, but she isn't allowed to get in until after 3 in the afternoon because my mom is terrified of her getting sunburned. We recently moved from San Francisco to Nevada and my kids and I are definitely NOT used to the heat in the summer. With my son and living in the desert, sunscreen is definately a staple in our home. This would be great for my son. For summer camp, I chose a facility that takes the kids to different field trips on a daily basis, most of them outside. These shirts (especially the flame shirt since it would match his flame swimsuit) would provide the extra protection he needs while playing all day in the sun!

The blue tie-dye is adorable. I think that I find sun protection so important because I know that I did so much damage to my skin over the years (baby oil anyone?) and I know that I won't always be there to help my children stay protected. All that I can do now to prevent damage, lead a good example and hopefully instill healthy habits really is a number one priority.

1) Is the sun really dangerous to humans? If so, how did humans survive for the last 350,000 years on planet Earth?
2) Have the chemicals used in sunscreen products ever been safety tested or approved by the FDA? (The answer is no.)
3) Who financially benefits when you keep buying and using sunscreen products?
4) What is the environmental impact of sunscreen chemicals washing off into the ocean, a lake, a swimming pool or being washed down the drain in your shower?
5) Sunscreen manufacturers say the skin doesn't absorb their chemicals. If that's true, then how do nicotine patches work? How do transdermal drugs get absorbed through the skin if sunscreen chemicals don't? (Answer: ALL these chemicals get absorbed through the skin. The skin is not selective about what it chooses to absorb.)
6) If the sun is so dangerous, then why is the vitamin generated by sunlight (vitamin D) so healthy for humans? Why would humans evolve a mechanism for generating a vitamin from sunlight if we weren't supposed to be exposed to sunlight in the first place?
7) If sunlight is so dangerous, then why is virtually every living creature on planet Earth dependent on sunlight for survival? Plants use sunlight to generate their nutrition, too, and most animals eat either plants or other animals that originally ate plants. Nearly all life on planet Earth is powered by sunlight. I am a big worrier of my kids being in the sun. Skin cancer runs in my family, because we didn't understand the importance of sun protection and our skin tones are more prone to it. I struggle with both my blonde hair, blue eyed babies getting sunscreen on them, keeping hats/sunglasses on them and worry if they've been in the sun too much. I could really use the sun protection right now because my son is under 6 months and is not supposed to have sunscreen on. Ohhhh this is a wonderful opportunity and just the perfect HOT season. We have been spending more time out in the sun recently. I am very good about putting sunscreen on the kids, but dad is not quite as good about it. This suit would be a perfect solution!

I would love to win one of these for my daughter! In the northern plains we are known for our cold winters, but our summers get hot and cloudless too! When we spend 2 1/2 hours outside, she will get burned unless we slather her in sunscreen, or have a spf protection shirt on her! I would love to win this for my daughter, this year she's developed an autoimmune disorder (autoeczematization, big words are scary!) after a severe allergic reaction to one of her flu-shots. Basically everything makes her skin break out. Lotions, new soaps, the buttons on her shorts, sun block all give her a horrible open rash that she then has to take antibiotics for. I've just discovered these sun-blocking swimsuits online and excited for what they mean for my daughter; no more hiding inside all day or dressing her like a little old lady to shield her from the sun. (sorry for the novel, I'm just a little excited by the give away lol)
