Sleepy Wrap (review)

There's nothing like having your baby right next to you all the time, problem is....we as moms and dads have other things that need to get done (dishes, dusting, pickup living room, other kids, etc) That's where I have found Sleepy Wrap to come in handy. I never had a baby carrier with Jeffery or Jaylin, so this is a whole new experience for me, and a good one at that!

I will admit, when I pulled out my Sleepy Wrap I was a bit overwhelmed....it's one continuous piece of fabric. What helped was I had gotten it in the mail as we were heading to the city, so I took that time in the car to read the instruction manual cover to cover...over and over, just to make sure I understood it. As soon as we got home, I unwrapped it, and I put the manual in front of me (it has very good pictures with the instructions) I got it on and put Jaxon in it with no problems at all. I was amazed at how comfortable it was to wear him, he felt light as a feather, the material isn't real thick so we didn't get hot and he seemed to love it! I can now take it on and off with no problem whatsoever! I love it! When you get Sleepy Wrap, if you have problems at first putting it on...don't worry, it will take practice to be able to do it without the instruction manual, but it is SO worth it!

The bolded is from the Sleepy Wrap site:

CARRIED BABIES...
-Cry Less! (43% less overall and 54% less during the evening hours)
[I have found this out myself! Jaxon does cry less...only when he wants to eat!]

-Are Healthier! (gain weight faster, have better motor skills, coordination, increased muscle tone, and sense of balance)
-Get a better view of the world! (babies pushed in strollers or lugged around in car seats only get to see the adult world at knee-level)
-Become Independent Faster! (making them more confident and less clingy)
-Sleep Better! (they fall asleep quicker and sleep for longer periods of time)
[Jaxon does fall asleep quicker! I'm waiting on the sleep longer periods of time though lol]
-Learn More! (not overstimulated, but calm and alert, observing the world around them)
-And are just plain Happier!
[Jaxon is a happy baby!]

I put Jaxon in the Sleepy Wrap around the house, when we're in a store, going for walks, out to visit my dad...anywhere and everywhere I can, I put him in it! I have to tell you this story...as you all know if you read my blog, Jaxon had his 2month checkup Wednesday and he got shots...I had the Sleepy Wrap on for the waiting room because I knew I would have to fill out paperwork...that's not possible while holding a baby...but it is with a Sleepy Wrap. Anyways, he got his shots and I still had the Sleepy Wrap on, he was screaming his little head off and just wasn't happy at all, I picked him up and tried to rock him and give him his pacifier...didn't help. BUT when I put him in the Sleepy Wrap...INSTANT quiet! He went right to sleep and was happy as could be!

On Sleepy Wrap's site, they give 27 advantages of why Sleepy Wrap is better than other carriers on the market, I'm not going to list all 27 because that would just be really long! I'm going to put a few here that are my favorite!

-gives great support for little heads and necks -especially when your baby falls asleep [Jaxon don't have head control yet, so when he falls asleep, I can pull it over the back of his head and he's secure]
-custom fit- simply tie the wrap carrier snug against your body and no matter what body type you are, it will fit! [I was worried about this, because I am on the bigger side I wasn't sure if it was going to fit properly...it DOES!]

-feels soft on your baby’s skin [It does! I even love the feel of the fabric]

-no baby is too small -the baby wrap is designed for the tiniest of babies [Jaxon was only 7lbs when we started using it!]

-evenly distributes the weight of your baby-much more supported than carrying with your arms, on one shoulder, or your hip [This makes ALL the difference!]

-perfect for traveling -compact and great on uneven terrain or crowded places [Like I said, we use it at the store and everywhere!]

-comfortable -moves with you instead of restricting you [I can barely tell I have it on most of the time!]

Being Summer I was also worried it would be too hot to carry him outside in Sleepy Wrap, but that worry quickly faded when I had to walk up the road to Jeff's coworker's house to pickup the van (which already had his car seat in it...NEVER drive or ride in a car with your baby in Sleepy Wrap!) I put Jaxon in his Sleepy Wrap, put Jeffery and Jaylin's shoes on them and walked up the road...it was so easy, and I felt great! Neither of us were sweating when we got up the road...well, I was a little from the walk, but I wasn't hot from the carrier...it also shielded Jaxon from the sun!

I put it on when we went to my dad's one day and he give me this funny look, he had NEVER seen anything like this (remember, we live in a small town) I explained to him what it was and he was impressed. I was actually out playing in the yard with him and Jeffery and Jaylin while having Jaxon in the Sleepy Wrap. My dad's neighbor saw me with Jaxon and she has a baby a little more than a month older than Jaxon and she was so curious as to what it was and how it worked and where to get one!

As you can see in the picture (forgive my horrible appearance, I'm still broken out and puffy from having Jaxon) I have the red Sleepy Wrap, but they come in a rainbow of colors! Plus with a price of $39.95 for the original (it comes in the variety of colors) and $59.95 for the organic (comes in Natural and Khaki colors) you can't beat that price!

I love my Sleepy Wrap. I didn't want to try to put my son in though after he got shots because it was right on the front of his legs but maybe I should have tried it and he would have settled down better.
